Pet Lovers Journal is an independent editorial publication for American pet parents. We publish first-person essays, gentle reporting, and lifestyle writing about the dogs and cats who shape our households.
What we cover
Senior pets, gentle grief, the rituals of home, gifting and keepsakes, the small decisions that make life with animals feel like a life. We are not a veterinary journal, and we do not pretend to be. We write for people who love their pets the way most of us actually love our pets — with imperfect routines, deep attachment, and a great many phone photos.
Our writers
Our contributors are working writers, retired teachers, lifestyle journalists, and longtime pet parents from across the United States. Every essay published here is written by a human being and reviewed by a human editor.
How we make money
Some of our articles include affiliate-style references to products we genuinely recommend, including pet portrait studio Fido & Frame. Pet Lovers Journal may receive compensation from purchases made through links in those articles. This does not influence which products we cover, and it never influences the content or honesty of our writers' recommendations. You can read more about how we work in our editorial standards.
